Perception of psychological activity
Fear is borne from selfishness. One without fear is undoubtedly a selfless person. Once the ego is involved, one starts to worry about this and that. Why do we experience this fear? The root cause is the ego or selfishness. On the contrary, selflessness will lead to the openness of mind.
We can observe our psychological activity in our daily lives. When we have fear, doubt or feel lost, is it related to selfishness? And in the opposing scenario, do we feel secure when we are selfless? When one is free of doubt, one is without worry; when one is without doubt, one is free of fear. Let us compare, observe and train our insight into our psychological activity and do so without passing judgement on ourselves.
Selflessness and selfishness are something without self-nature, thus they are not unique to anybody. Whoever picks up either of these concepts will experience its impact on the mind. Selfishness brings about fear and doubt, while selflessness leads to openness. This inner effect is constantly changing. It is a state of our own cognitive selection and it is a state with no essence. Once we judge something as right or wrong, good or bad, we are boxed up in this certain state. It is crucial to understand the ripples of our psychological state. With this understanding, we can climb out of the trap of distinguishing right and wrong; we could stop worldly habits and wasting life.
We should have a clear insight into our psychological state and actively use its nature of none-self. Our mind is incredibly wise; it will adopt the best possible psychological state once we gain proper perception of these questions. In this aspect, the mind does not need to be taught or forced. Fear, doubt and openness are mental states that are constantly changing. With a clear perception of this changing state, we can gradually free ourselves from the obsession and attachment that comes with “judgement”.
