摘要:力所能及很重要,不能及,就要休息调整。就是调整到可及,那就可以驾驭了。
弟子: 我开车的时候有时候会很困,即使我观察其本质不可得,也调整不过来。
师:力所能及很重要,你说的这是不能及了。不能及,就要休息调整。休息的目的是什么呢?就是调整到可及,那就可以驾驭了。
有时候你认为自己力所能及的时候,也许是一时能及,但长时间可能就不能及了;热情的时候能及,冷静的时候就不及了。所以力所能及看着很简单,实际在执行的过程中需要多角度的观察。
比如说帮助一个人,如果没有审视好自己的能力,用一时激情去做了,结果把对方的贪心给激活了,使对方养成对你依赖的习惯,一旦你不帮了,对方就会起埋怨心,甚至会颠覆。所以帮助别人一定要长久冷静地考虑清楚,才能真正力所能及地做事。
我们的心地可以回到性空,那就是无所不及,无所障碍,但在事相上呢,还是要遵循次序,就是要力所能及,否则我们在事相上承担不了。事相虽是如幻,但各受果报。
所以我们可以在事相上多一个调整。力所不及了,不能驾驭了,就休息调整。像在热情的时候做得到,冷静的时候做不到,去调整一下就好了;一时做得到,长时间做不到,同样调整到可承受、可控的范围上再去作为。
实际我们平时讲的善恶,可以把力所能及作为一个参照。你做力所能及的事就是善业;力所不能及了,承担不了了,就会推卸责任,要是不调整,相续下去结果一定是恶业。
觉悟者常讲:诸恶莫作,众善奉行,自净其意。这个自净其意就是让我们回到性空缘起上;去做力所能及的事,就是众善奉行。

Do What You Are Capable Of
Student: Sometimes I feel sleepy while I’m driving. I can’t physically get rid of it even though I know it isn’t real in its nature.
Teacher: Well, the point is only to do what you’re capable of. Taking a break to adjust would always be an option if you think you can`t make it. The reason of that is staying in a good position of capability would simply help you get there.
Sometimes,you might think you can handle something in a short run instead of in a long one, which would be the same as it’s with enthusiasm over sanity. Knowing what you’re capable of would never be just as easy as it looks. It actually requires quite a lot perspectives while in practice.
For Example, if you help someone without determined mind but impulsive actions, which might be pulling back his greediness alive without notices and make himself get relied on you. Once your help stops, his hatred of you will kick in really quick and everything will fall apart. That’s why capabilities of helping others is based on having a thorough mindset, instead of being emotional for sure.
Our mind could get back to the fact that “emptiness applies to everything”, in other words, for emptiness everything is practicable and with no obstruction. But on the things , we need to follow the order to do what we are capable of. “Phenomenon is formed by void, but karma’s of which pays back in kind eventually”.
With that being said, when it comes certain thing that we are not capable of accomplishing, a break or an adjustment could be utilized. It applies to the situation such as you feel yourself being emotional engaged or chilled out, or for time period, as it’s in a long run or in a short one. Effort on each way is to make it under certain control and be more affordable for yourself to live on with.
In fact “positive or negative action” as we say in daily life could be distinguished by whether or not things we do are within our capability.. If things that we do are within our capability, they usually end up good. But if we cannot afford what we do, or things are beyond our capability, irresponsibility would follow and things would probably end in ill effect if there is no proper adjustment.
The enlightened ones always said, “To do no evil, to do only good, and to purify your mind”. Here to purify your mind is to make us get back to the emptiness. Positive action means being as most helpful as we could for others within our affordability and capability.
