摘要：佛教的信仰，是顺着生命的本质、万事万物的本质——本质平等，来安排自己的身心世界。守护本质平等就能安心，就会坦然、真诚地去作为。

信仰不信仰，从心理状态上去观察最重要。一定不要做一个给别人看的人，这样人很容易生烦恼，别人不关注你了，你就会烦恼。一定不要认为别人在看我们，这样你就能解放自己。我有没有信仰，我从心里来看，我不管其他东西。

没有信仰，就会在乎他人的看法。因为没有根基，你的生活、作为的主题丢失了，一开口就容易指责自己、指责别人、指责子女、指责长辈、指责所有的人。这些指责都是来自于自是他非，也来自于在乎他人的看法。这就是在飘荡！

我们有信仰的守护，就是所谓的修行。有很清晰的内心守护，会给我们带来极大的安慰。像佛教的信仰，是顺着生命的本质、万事万物的本质，来安排自己的身心世界，就是所谓的生命的共同点——人人都具有的本质平等，很简单的一个直指人心的信仰。守护这个本质平等就能安心，我们在安心的基础上就会坦然、真诚地去作为。

The Power of faith – what you hold in your heart is the key (三)

It is important to observe from within whether we are animated by faith or not. We should never do things only for others to see. Indeed, such people easily get upset when others do not pay attention to them. We should never think that other people are watching us, so that we can liberate ourselves. “Do I truly have faith?” We’d better ask ourselves from the heart rather than from elsewhere.

Without faith, we care more about the opinions of others and lose the theme of our life and activities. We cannot manage ourselves or control others by gossiping about others. This is a particular habit too often seen among those without faith. They keep on blaming anyone around them, kids, elders, friends and even blaming themselves as well. This blaming comes from the fact that they think they are always right and whatever happens, it is the fault of others. It also comes from their caring too much about other people’s opinions, which means that their lives are drifting.

If we have faith, we are on a spiritual journey. It is a great comfort if we have a reliance for our heart to hold and rely upon. For example, Buddhism allows all sentient beings to follow the essential nature of all phenomena to settle their bodies, minds and worlds. Everyone has the equanimity within, which is the common ground of all life. It is a very simple, direct, straight-to-the-heart belief. If we uphold the inherent equanimity, we can rest our heart. Then we will be able to genuinely act to benefit other beings with a rested heart.
