摘要:歇心,令我们能用正见、正思维来看清楚自己的心念依止。歇心的妙用在于,以一颗休息的心,到事相上作为。内在是宁静、休息的,才能真正体会外面的美好。
“噢,今天我烦躁了,因为天气热、虫子多;因为别人对我有说法,我心生烦恼了。”——我们要很明确,这个烦恼不是我的需要,这个烦恼只是一时的因缘,缘生缘灭,没有实质。这样我们主动地在烦恼中觉悟,就不会再推动业相。
我们不在烦恼之外再建立一个事情,过去说心随境转,现在我们用心来转境。比如说能转多少先不管它,我有多少习气烦恼先不管它,别人有多少习气烦恼不管它。一旦烦恼来了,我们就处理它;不来,我们也不建立。
这样我们那颗找事的心,慢慢就能休息下来。当它休息下来,哪怕我们表现出那个烦恼,都没有问题。表现的烦恼是个习气,但我们的心慢慢地会越来越安稳、越来越落地。
休息的、不造作的心,不会去预设什么,不会追逐事相,不会用没有调整空间的思想来逼迫自己。预设、努力,就会苦,抗争、争取、逼迫都会接踵而至。我们以前的生活次序中,那些苦的东西,都是为了一个目的去作为,造成了一个努力的结果,实际苦在背后隐藏着。之前我们在《力所能及》中分享,我们现状的确是这样子的,我们的确只能做到这儿,我们完全可以调整,但是现状是这样子的,就只能做到这儿了。这样,人就慢慢变得从容、踏实、健康、有力起来。这里有调整的余地和空间,而“努力”把余地都去掉了。非常辛苦!
我们完全不必去强做任何一个事。泰然地处理每一个现缘,耐心地使每一个过程都变得美好起来,休息的心令我们能感受到事情中的美好、朴实。不仅自己能体验得到,更能给其他人带来很美好的东西。
歇心,令我们能用正见、正思维来看清楚自己的心念依止。一切的事相很纯正地在测试着我们的心念依止——是信仰?是法则?是世俗?还是情绪? 情绪就受苦,法则很简单、明亮。这不是说我们不在乎事相了,而是我们终于能在内心更细腻地审视事相。
歇心,才能体验得到一切如幻的生命的美好和妙用。这个一切如幻不是说出来的,而是在生活中去体验它、去感知它、去观。观什么?观这一切如幻的生命体验。没有正见,体验不了;不歇心,体验不了。我们还在分别好坏的时候、堕入世俗的割裂的时候,没法体验。
歇心的妙用在于,以一颗休息的心,到事相上作为。内在是宁静、休息的,才能真正体会外面的这种美好。
The marvelous function of a rested heart
“Oh, I feel fretful today because of the hot weather and bug infestation; I feel fretful for I was criticized by others. ” At this moment we must be clear that trouble is not what we need. It is just a temporary phenomenon for it comes and goes conditionally and has no essence. Therefore if we take the initiative to enlighten ourselves within the trouble, we will not push the karmic phenomena (trouble) further.
Do not add one more thing over your troubles. We often say that our heart is influenced by the environment, but instead, we could use our heart to influence the environment. Regardless of how much we can change, and how much worry and habits we and other people have, once we come across a trouble, we deal with it immediately; otherwise, we cannot make anything out of nothing.
Thus our making–things-out-of-nothing-heart will gradually come to rest. From this moment, even if certain worry appear, it does not matter anymore because the worry is acknowledged as mere a habit, as our heart becomes more and more peaceful and steady.
A rested, never-making–things-out-of-nothing heart does not predetermine anything, does not run after phenomena, and does not press ourselves with thoughts that leave no room for adjustment. To predetermine and to overdo something lead to suffering, struggle, fight and constrain. Before, all our suffering came from the fact that we acted for a predetermined goal and worked hard to generate a result, but suffering was hidden behind. Just like we mentioned in the article “Our best preparation – do what we can” that we have shared before, such is our current status, and this is what we can indeed achieve. We definitely can make adjustment, but in the current situation, we can only achieve so much. In this way, we will gradually become relaxed, steady, healthy and strong. Thus we can allow room for adjustment, otherwise we cannot if we “overdo things”, and life will become hard to bear.
We do not need to try too hard to do anything at all, but we just need to try as much as we can to deal with every current situation and have the patience to make every process better. A rested heart can not only make us to enjoy the beauty and simplicity in dealing with things, but also bring such beauty to other people.
A rested heart enables us to use the right view and right thinking to have a clear view about what our mind is based upon. All phenomena simply test our mind—-is it based upon beliefs, dharma, secular thoughts, or emotions? If we base our mind on emotions, we will suffer. If we base our mind on the dharma, we will feel simplicity and brightness. It does not mean that we no longer care about the outer phenomena, but rather, we can finally come to observe these phenomena more carefully in our heart.
Only when we rest our heart, can we experience all the beauty and marvelous function of our illusory life. That everything is illusory is not a simple word, but something we need to experience, to feel and to observe in life. What to observe? Observe the life experience that everything is an illusion. Without the right view or a rested heart, we can not reach that experience. When we are still falling into the duality of good and bad or the worldly view of separation, we can not reach that experience.
The marvelous function of a rested heart allows us to work or act at the phenomenal level with a relaxed heart. Only when our inner world is peaceful and relaxed, can we truly experience the beauty in the outer world.
